ssms - SQL Server Management studio won't start - Type library could not be found -

i running sql server management studio developer edition 2012, , program not start morning. have tried online, no avail. when (attempt to) start application, greeted message:

"the proper type library not found in system registry

an attempt repair condition failed because not have permissions write tot system registry or because thetype library not loaded"

if click "ok" on message, followed "the application cannot start" error.

i running administrator, , have tried repairing sql server 2012, uninstalling , reinstalling it, error message persists. have tried right clicking , running administrator, "application cannot start" message.

between these 2 related questions, appears permissions issue:
